Here's what we mean when we use certain words throughout this policy.
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or plural.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:
"Account" means a unique account created for You to access our Service or parts of our Service.
"Business," for the purpose of the CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act), refers to U Brands, the legal entity that determines the purposes and means of processing Personal Data.
"Personal Data" means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
"Sensitive Personal Information" or "SPI" has the meaning given in California Civil Code section 1798.140 and includes, among other things, government-issued identifiers and information revealing professional or employment status.
"Service" means the U Brands website, online store, and related services.

We collect only what's needed to make your experience smooth, secure, and personalized.
Categories of Personal Information We Collect
In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers (name, email, postal address, phone number, IP address, account ID)
- Customer records (billing and shipping addresses; payment information is processed by our payment service providers and not stored by U Brands)
- Commercial information (order history, products viewed, cart activity)

- Sensitive Personal Information (collected only through specific programs, see Section 7)

- From service providers (payment processors, shipping carriers, marketing platforms)
Business Purposes for Collection
We collect personal information for order fulfillment, customer service, marketing communications (with your consent), site analytics, security and fraud prevention, eligibility verification for educator programs, and legal compliance.

We do not sell your personal information for monetary compensation. We do not share Sensitive Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as described below:
- Service providers under written contract: payment processors, shipping carriers, email marketing platforms (Klaviyo), analytics providers, customer support tools
- Affiliates and partners when relevant to your purchase or account
- Legal disclosures when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
- Business transfers during a merger or acquisition, with notice to you
7. Sensitive Personal Information
Through certain programs like U Teach Educator Verification, we may collect Sensitive Personal Information as defined under California's CPRA. This may include:
- Government-issued or employer-issued identification (school ID, teaching certificate, employment verification letter)
- Information that reveals professional or employment status
We collect SPI only to verify eligibility for educator pricing. We do not use SPI to infer characteristics about you, we do not sell SPI, and we do not share SPI for cross-context behavioral advertising. SPI is reviewed by authorized U Brands staff and deleted within 1 to 3 business days of review (30 days maximum). For full details, see our U Teach Educator Verification & Data Security Policy.
You have the right to limit the use of your Sensitive Personal Information. To exercise this right, see Section 11 or contact support@u-brands.com.
8. Retention and Security
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.
- Account data: while your account is active, plus up to 7 years for tax and legal records
- Order and transaction data: 7 years for tax compliance
- Marketing data: until you opt out, then deleted within 30 days
- U Teach verification documents: reviewed and deleted within 1 to 3 business days (30 days maximum)
- Cookies and analytics: per the cookie's expiration date or your browser settings
- Customer service records: 3 years from last contact
We protect your information using encryption in transit, access controls, regular security reviews, and contractual safeguards with service providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data using industry-standard practices.
9. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we'll delete it immediately. Contact support@u-brands.com if you believe we may have collected information from a child.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. The sections below describe the rights available to U.S. state residents and to residents of the EEA and UK.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

12. Other State Privacy Rights
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights similar to those described above, including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising and certain processing of sensitive data. 13. GDPR Rights (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. Our legal bases for processing include consent, contract performance, legitimate interests, and legal obligation. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
14. How to Exercise Your Rights

We will respond within 45 days (or as required by applicable law) and may extend the response window by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary, with notice to you. To protect your information, we may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf with proper documentation. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
15. Data Breach Notification
If we experience a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law, including without unreasonable delay where state or federal law requires.
16. Links to Other Websites
Our site may include links to third-party websites. Their privacy policies apply once you leave U Brands' site.
17. Changes to This Policy
