with Jamie, Sr. Product Designer

Jamie’s story is a perennial reminder that creativity is never one-dimensional. It’s built from experiences, passions, struggles, and a willingness to evolve. Whether she’s illustrating characters, designing new products, or bringing joy to the office with infectious energy, Jamie infuses everything she touches with authenticity and heart. Jamie taught at CSULB School of Art for a decade and also illustrated numerous books, including Noodles for Baby, Leilani Blessed and Grateful, and Uncle’s Magic Thrownet. These fantastic titles, along with her zeal and drive, showcase her innate talent and abilities.

At U Brands, we’re proud to have creators like Jamie shaping the future of our products. It’s their talent and imagination that turn simple tools into inspiring essentials, helping you plan, write, create, and dream a little bigger every day.

Jamie Tablason, Senior Product Designer at U Brands

What’s the weirdest thing you have ever doodled during a meeting?

I haven’t done it in awhile but recently in a meeting I was doodling Simpson characters.

What book would you love to illustrate?

I’ve always wanted to illustrate the Expedition of Lewis & Clark Sacagawea.

Who is your favorite person in the office?

Besides my husband, that would have to be Jess Summers, my junior. I love her!

What’s the most unusual item on your desk right now?

My little squishy stress duck and my little squishy ice cube.

If you had to eat one snack every day for a year, what would it be?

Onigiri.

What’s a secret talent nobody here knows about?

I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue.

"Over 20 books published, 10 years teaching, and now designing at U Brands."

Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?

Harry Potter.

What’s your go-to song when you need a pick me up?

Hot to Go! by Chappell Roan.

What’s a piece of advice you’d give someone wanting to get into illustration/design?

Be yourself. Be genuine. Don’t be afraid of change and try new things. And stay curious!

If you were forced into a haunted maze, what is one mundane thing that would be in the maze?

The entire maze would be made out of wet grass and someone would take away my shoes and I would have to walk through the wet grass; barefoot, with no shoes on. And you wouldn’t know what’s in the grass.

What’s making you happy lately/this week? Big or small!

I'm excited to see Chappell Roan in concert in October. And I'm just a basic girl who's stoked about Fall and being cozy.
